Biography
Engr Waqas Ali is a MS student in the Software Engineering Department at University of Engineering and Technology Taxilla, Pakistan. He received his BSc. Software Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar in 2011. His areas of interest are Software Development, Software Quality Assurance and process improvement, Analysis, Requirement Engineering, Data Mining and Data Ware Housing. He is also IEEE Graduate Student Member.

Today in software world the qualifying criterion for a software product is to be of high quality. Quality enables a software product to conform to customer’s expectations. It is another name for best available services and is made acceptable through many practices like reviews, inspections and testing. Among these software inspection is the one which is cost efficient and easy to implement technique. Software inspection is composed of many activities to result in improving the underlying document better and creates consistent understanding. This research presents the different activities in the inspection and practicing of these activities in the software industry of Pakistan. This research is carried out through questionnaires. The answers demonstrate that software inspection is source of better quality products and customer satisfaction without using any proper framework of inspection.

Requirement engineering is an essence of software development life cycle. The more time we spend on requirement engineering, higher the probability of success. Effective requirement engineering ensures and predicts successful software product. This paper presents the adaptation of requirement engineering practices in small and medium size companies of Pakistan. The study is conducted by questionnaires to show how much of requirement engineering models and practices are followed in Pakistan.
