In the past different engineers and researcher developed robots capable of climbing for various purposes. In this paper we have developed a robot capable of rope climbing in both horizontal and vertical direction. Furthermore, the robot has the ability to perform surveillance using a camera mounted on top of the robot. The quality of the transmitted video from the camera to the computer is clear and stable. Hence the developed robot is a good choice for surveillance purposes. In addition, it can be used to traverse floors of a building. It uses an IR sensor to sense strips attached at each floor. Once the strips are sensed, a dropping mechanism is activated in which a specific object is dropped to the targeted floor or location. The robot can work in automatic mode or manual through RF signals from an RF transmitter. Finally the robot is cost effective compared to many other developed robots for rope climbing.

In pipeline defect classification, it is important to increase the accuracy of the SVM classification so that one can avoid misclassification which can lead to greater problems in monitoring pipeline defect and prediction of pipeline leakage. In this paper, it is found that noisy data can greatly affect the performance of SVM. Hence, Kalman Filter + SVM hybrid technique has been proposed as a solution to reduce SVM classification errors. The datasets has been added with Additive White Gaussian Noise in several stages to study the effect of noise on SVM classification accuracy. Three techniques have been studied in this experiment, namely SVM, hybrid of Discrete Wavelet Transform + SVM and hybrid of Kalman Filter + SVM. Experiment results have been compared to find the most promising techniques among them. MATLAB simulations show Kalman Filter and Support Vector Machine combination in a single system produced higher accuracy compared to the other two techniques.

Information Systems Development Methodologies (ISDMs) are used by organizations to structure the information system development process. ISDMs are essential for structuring project participants’ thinking and actions; therefore ISDMs play an important role to achieve successful projects. There are different ISDMs and no methodology can claim that it can be applied to any organization. The problem facing decision makers is how to select an appropriate development methodology that may increase the probability of system success.
This paper takes this issue into account when study ISDMs and provides a Rule-based Expert System as a tool for selecting appropriate ISDMs. The proposed expert system consists of three main phases to automate the process of selecting ISDMs.
Three approaches were used to test the proposed expert system. Face validation through six professors and six IS professionals, predictive validation through twenty four experts and blind validation through nine employees working in IT field.
The results show that the proposed system was found to be run without any errors, offered a friendly user interface and its suggestions matching user expectations with 95.8%. It also can help project managers, systems' engineers, systems' developers, consultants, and planners in the process of selecting the suitable ISDM. Finally, the results show that the proposed Rule-based Expert System can facilities the selection process especially for new users and non-specialist in Information System field.
Technological advancements have led to the development of few commercially available tele-surgery systems till date. However such systems are very expensive. In tele-surgery, the task of a surgeon (the activities related to a surgery) is partially executed by a robot. Typically, the robot is under the control of a surgeon; it executes the instructions of the controlling surgeon. In this paper we give formal model of a tele-surgery domain (heart surgery) as a multiagent planning problem. The actions related to the surgery are represented as planning operators. The model consists of two interactive agents, referred to as EXPERT and INTERN. The EXPERT controls the activities of the INTERN. The INTERN executes the actions suggested by the EXPERT. The state space of each agent is modeled as a transition system. The communication of the agents is modeled using CCS. We have defined a condition to establish the success of the surgery using notions of finite games. We have also developed a prototype implementation incorporating the above features.

Thus, a coordinated compensation of reactive sources should be implemented to avoid a fast voltage collapse and improve the dynamic voltage profile by proposing a MicroGrid Voltage Stabilizer (MGVS). This stabilizer was used in microgrids with synchronous machine based resources. Main purpose of this research is verify the performance of the stabilizer by applying it to microgrids containing power-electronic converter based distributed generations (DGs). So that a 21-bus IEEE microgrid with three photovoltaic (PV) resources is tested. At first, PV resource and all of its needed equipments, are modeled. Then a control model of the stabilizer with appropriate parameters, is presented. Voltage deficiency of the system is the input of the stabilizer, and the output signal of the stabilizer, is divided between the DGs in order to provide required reactive power. The dynamic voltage profile of buses in presence of MGVS and its absence has been compared by implying disturbances. Simulation results in MATLAB/SIMULINK show that the dynamic voltage profile of buses improves satisfactorily with the addition of MGVS.

The inference mechanism is detailed with discussions on the rule base, which in essence incorporates the planning logic. In order to assess the effectiveness of the planner as a means of reactive escape under critical situations, a case study is studied with reference to a state of the art AUV. An approximate subsea current model is developed from field observations, and residual energy is estimated by referring to a typical Lithium-polymer cell discharge characteristic together with data recorded in actual field trials. Situations are simulated by considering different combinations of sea-currents as well as status of resident energy. Results reveal that the simulated system, by virtue of the planner, is capable of perceiving situations, thereby realizing their imminence and making a decisive action thereupon. In concise, the fuzzy planner may be considered to provide human-like perception of situations on the basis of crisp observations. Furthermore dynamics of the system are modelled with actual parameters, and subsequently controller responses for pitching and velocity correction are illustrated. Choice of planning interval is also expressed as a function of the controllers' response.

This paper examines the relationship between heritage sites, waterfronts, and relationships between people in present-day in urban culture. Urban waterfronts are important and special assets and that, when redeveloped, they often contribute to healthy traditional communities. Waterfronts can serve as a unifying force in a city or town and can be, and often are, a force for community enrichment. Further, vibrant communities are essential for environmental, economic and social advancement. There are several strategy specific principles as a way to improve of usage from particular places and waterfront city. Select and design the best strategy play important role to tourist attraction. Fuzzy logic inference system is used to select the best methodology and based on this research and fuzzy logic method, striped methodology is used to have a best performance.

The concept of ontologies has contributed to the development of Semantic Web where Semantic Web is an extension of the current World Wide Web in which information is given in a well-defined meaning that translates the given unstructured data into knowledgeable representation data thus enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. Thus, we can say that Semantic Web is information in machine understandable form. It is also called as Global Information Mesh (GIM). Semantic Web technology can be used to deal with challenges including traditional search engines and retrieval techniques within given organizations or for e-commerce applications whose initial focus is on professional users. Ontology represents information in a manner so that this information can also be used by machines not only for displaying, but also for automating, integrating, and reusing the same information across various applications which may include Artificial Intelligence, Information Retrieval (IR) and many more. Ontology is defined as a collection of set of concepts, their definitions and the relationships among them represented in a hierarchical manner that is termed as Taxonomy. There are various tools available for developing ontologies like Hozo, DOML, and AltovaSemantic Works etc. We have used protégé which is one of the most widely used ontology development editor that defines ontology concepts (classes), properties, taxonomies, various restrictions and class instances. It also supports several ontology representation languages, including OWL. There are various versions of protégé available like WebProtege 2.0 beta, Protégé 3.4.8, Protégé 4.1 etc. In this paper, we have illustrated ontology development using protégé 3.1 by giving an example of Computer Science Department of University System. It may be useful for future researchers in making ontology on protégé version 3.1.

A temperature difference is applied across the vertical sidewalls for the Grashof number , where the outer wall is heated and the inner one cooled. After a compressive survey over the parametric ranges, two branches of asymmetric steady solutions with two- and four-vortex solutions are obtained by the Newton-Raphson iteration method. Then, in order to investigate the non-linear behavior of the unsteady solutions, time evolution calculations as well as power spectrum of the solutions are obtained, and it is found that in the unsteady flow undergoes in the scenario “steady → periodic → multi-periodic → chaotic”, if Dn is increased.

The safe of vehicles is extremely essential for public vehicles. Vehicle tracking and locking system installed in the vehicle, to track the place and locking engine motor. The place of the vehicle identified using Global Positioning system (GPS) and Global system mobile communication (GSM). These systems constantly watch a moving Vehicle and report the status on demand. When the theft identified, the responsible person send SMS to the microcontroller, then microcontroller issue the control signals to stop the engine motor. Authorized person need to send the password to controller to restart the vehicle and open the door. This is more secured, reliable and low cost.

We have developed algorithms for the Rayleigh and Rician fading channels, which computes the envelop and outage probability. The parameters such as source velocity and outage probability play very important role in the performance analysis and design of the digital communication systems over the multipath fading environment.

The research concentrated on studying the artificial intelligence based switching computed torque controller to localization of an endoscopic tool. Results show that the switching artificial nonlinear control algorithm is capable to design a stable controller. For this system, error was used as the performance metric. Positioning of the endoscopic manipulator relative to the world coordinate frame was possible to within 0.05 inch. Error in maintaining a constant point in space is evident during repositioning however this was caused by limitations in the robot arm.
