DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmecs.2022.02.02, Pub. Date: 8 Apr. 2022

The students’ psychological health in high education is still being a problematic issue. This article describes the importance of ensuring students’ psychological health in higher education today and related empirical research results. The aim of this paper is exploring and analysis research results focused on students’ psychological health. To determine the students’ psychological health there were used special psychodiagnostic methods. The components of the psychological health were divided as 1) satisfaction level; 2) perceptions of a healthy lifestyle; 3) emotional stability; 4) psychoemotional state; and 5) attitude towards themselves. Obtained results on students’ psychological health indicate specific conclusions about various psychological health indicators and the relationship between behaviour and internal health, including in emotional, cognitive and behavioural areas. The results of this research work showed that one of the important indicators of students' psychological health is a decrease in the level of emotional distress and emotional instability (neuroticism, nervousness), a positive change in students' internal state, and an increase in students’ satisfaction with their educational environment. The results could be used in the high education system, especially measuring and monitoring students’ psychological health.

Lesson Study & Learning Study in China (1999-2021): Bibliometric Analysis Based on CNKI

By Mei Liao Jia-Fen Wu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmecs.2022.02.03, Pub. Date: 8 Apr. 2022

This bibliometric study aims at exploring the publications on lesson study and learning study in China based on the CNKI database between 1999 and 2021. “Lesson study” and “Learning study” were keywords for searching relevant publications on August 11, 2021. There are 315 articles collected, excluding articles written in English. The BICOMB software is applied to extract the above data to count the top ten ranking publications and to construct lexical and co-occurrence matrices. The clustering tree generated from high-frequency keywords represents the relationship among the terms. Euclidean distance model presents the hotspot topics at present, potential issues in the future, and the themes undeveloped in four quadrants. Results indicated that 39 high-frequency keywords were screened. There are 4 major clusters representing important issues: lesson study in practice, research approach, teaching strategies, and teacher education. Hotspot topics for lesson study are Teaching reflection, Classroom observation, effective teaching, etc. A comparative study, language art in primary schools, pre-service teacher education, deep learning, and information technology are seen as potential issues in the future; whereas themes such as core literacy, task design, teachers’ professional development are gradually declining. This study was subject to some limitations. First, only bibliographic data taken from CNKI were selected; therefore, some relevant publications might not have been included in this study. Second, the data retrieved in August 2021 is insufficiently representative since it might lack the completeness of year-long data for the whole year of 2021. Third, Chinese is the main language for publications in CNKI, and other publications in English languages are not collected. The concepts of lesson study and learning study are sometimes used interchangeably; therefore, the results of this study can serve as a guide for researchers and readers. The significance and value of this study is to portray the development of lesson study and learning study in China by means of visualization techniques and bibliometric characteristics. The potential issues emerging from the data will contribute to future studies in this field.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmecs.2022.02.04, Pub. Date: 8 Apr. 2022

Information Technologies have been changing with high speed and existing educational and training frameworks are required to be reviewed, restructured, and redesigned in aligning with the evolving technologies and advanced features. This can strengthen their survival in the highly competitive professional environment. Many of the institutions across the world have been consistently trying to upgrade and transform their educational systems to reduce the cost of learning, enhance the convenience and comfort in normal or adverse situations like pandemics or turbulences. The Ethiopian education system is one of them which has been consistently facing certain critical challenges to afford the education extensions & teaching facilities for citizens. These issues and challenges become critical to those who are working professionals, disabled, and females with pregnancy or the learners who can’t join the classes on regular basis with traditional teaching-learning processes like regular, summer, extension and distance education etc. In recent years a limited number of institutions in Ethiopia tried to encounter accessibility barriers by adopting advanced learning & teaching systems but acceptable level of such systems is still not satisfactory, promising, and popular. However, it has been observed that there is a strong and urgent need to have a better and alternative educational platform with extensive accessibility. Such systems become vital when pandemics or other issues lockdown the traditional education and communication systems. The strategic shift from traditional classroom to e-learning and e-learning to cloud-based learning can be a promising transformation and significant improvement towards next generation teaching-learning environment. To achieve this, a Unified Cloud based E-Learning Framework (UCELF) is proposed and functionally tested using Cloud based Opens Source applications. This study is an attempt to apply an exploratory applied research design using mixed research approach for assessment of the challenges and finally proposing a new cloud-based solution framework for women, disabled, working professionals, and the people challenged by accidental injuries.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijmecs.2022.02.05, Pub. Date: 8 Apr. 2022

The limitations on the Academic Progress Information System (SIsKA) application, in terms of its interface and functionality, have a direct consequence on the quality of service and monitoring student progress in the Computer Science Department of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Therefore, it is necessary to overcome these limitations through research that focuses on the development and evaluation of the next generation of SIsKA (SIsKA-NG) mobile application with real-time notification advantage compared to its counterpart existing web application. The heuristic evaluation of the first stage of this mobile application development identified twenty problems where eight problems with the highest severity (Catastrophic), six problems with high priority (Major), three problems with low priority (Minor) that need to be solved, and three problems that do not need to be fixed unless there is extra time. User satisfaction was measured by using the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire and gave the final score of 82.25. That score was higher than the minimal SUS standard score of 68.00 and was graded as very good, which means that users are very satisfied with using the application. To maximize more of the SIsKA-NG mobile performance, usability testing was conducted to obtain qualitative data from the same SUS respondents by using the Concurrent Think Aloud (CTA) method. CTA gave a summary result of twenty-one criticisms or suggestions that were referred to by the second stage of the SIsKA-NG mobile development.

Currently with world's industries providing endless job varieties, it is getting difficult for the students to choose optimum career lines. Ranging from 16-24 years old, these age groups find themselves unable to recognize their future endeavors. Hence, psychometric tests provide a solution, helping them to recognize their interests, aptitude and personality traits to produce better results. The research process was facilitated by questionnaires involving verbal, spatial, logical, critical and numerical aptitude. The responses were analyzed using statistical techniques, and machine learning algorithms. A number of graphs were plotted for better understanding of the technical details. The proposed psychometric and aptitude analysis model entails accuracy calculation assigning K-means, KNN, confusion matrices and SVM plots. The results of the psychometric analysis gave broad spectra of career choices by studying the pattern of the choices selected by the people. Respondents were supposed to give information about their interests and perceptions in their day to day activities, which in turn reflect information about their inner humanly traits, unknowingly providing an ideal career path.
